Syd is an Associate at Arc Initiatives, where she applies her communications skills to a portfolio of energy and environment issues, ranging from energy affordability to promoting the production of renewable sources to protecting public lands. She specializes in media relations, coalition management support, and digital content development for clean energy and environmental conservation efforts.
Through her work, Syd has pitched reporters and staffed press conferences on Capitol Hill, and she has helped plan and coordinate a sizable coalition of national and state leaders, advocates, and campaigners for a large national campaign focused on transitioning away from using fossil fuels in the United States. Syd has secured media coverage and opinion pieces in national and influential media outlets, including Reuters, Canary Media, La Opinión, The Washington Examiner, and Substack.
Before joining Arc, Syd served as a Communications and Programs Intern at Community Climate Collaborative (C3), a Charlottesville-based nonprofit that catalyzes climate action at the community level by working with businesses, residents, schools, other nonprofits, and local governments. There, she supported the Director of Communications on short- and long-term organizational strategies while curating and managing C3’s social media presence.
Syd graduated from The University of Virginia with a double major in Foreign Affairs and Global Environments and Sustainability. She plays competitive ultimate frisbee, loves to sing, and is a triplet.
