Rachel is a Communications Associate at Arc Initiatives, where she specializes in media tactics to support national and state-based advocacy campaigns focused on health care, clean energy, and environmental conservation. Rachel often distills complex policies into compelling narratives that engage diverse audiences and generate meaningful media coverage. She has secured stories and placements in national and state media outlets, including The Guardian, Michigan Advance, Virginian Pilot, and the Ohio Capital Journal.
Rachel leads multiple state teams on behalf of a national health care advocacy group, where she regularly hosts press events with members of Congress, state leaders, advocates, and storytellers to highlight Republican efforts to cut health care programs, like the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, that result in millions of people losing lifesaving health coverage.
Before joining Arc, Rachel served as a graduate teaching instructor in Penn State’s English Department, where she taught rhetoric and writing to first-year students from diverse backgrounds. She also wrote copy and content for Penn State’s College of Arts and Architecture and College of Engineering, highlighting notable activities and community members for social media and Penn State News.
Rachel holds a graduate degree in English with a focus on Creative Writing from Penn State, along with undergraduate degrees in English and Public Relations from the same institution. When she’s not crafting compelling narratives for clients, she enjoys knitting, attending concerts, reading poetry, and walking through Rock Creek Park.
